Language Use Survey

Spring 2024 Suquamish Language Use Form

Step 1 of 3

haʔł sləx̌il (good day),

Thank you for taking the time to document our Lushootseed use in our Suquamish Tribal Families. Please help us keep the data accurate by entering your name and other peoples’ name in the same way each time you take this survey. For example, if you enter your name as “Marj” the first time you fill out this survey, please continue to enter “Marj” in the future. Do not change it to a formal name of “Marjorie.”

Who do you talk to in Lushootseed? How much do you talk to them, please rate on a scale of 1-5. For example, if you say huy’ or haʔł sləx̌il to someone and that is all you say, that is a 1 on the scale. If you speak to someone over an hour a day in the language that is a 5 on the scale. Note: Our speaking habits change often depending on life circumstances and our language habits. This is why we will ask you to take this survey regularly.
