Marine Division
The Suquamish Police Department Marine Division was created in 2012 specifically to focus its attention on Patrol and Protection of the Suquamish Tribe’s Natural Resources both inside the boundaries of the Port Madison Indian Reservation and throughout the Suquamish Tribe’s usual and accustomed fishing places and hunting and gathering areas located inside and outside reservation boundaries as established in the Point Elliot Treaty of 1855. The goals of the Marine Division are::
- Safety and Protection of all fisherman, hunters and harvesters involved in fisheries/harvest/hunting activities
- Patrol and Protection of the Suquamish Tribe’s Natural Resources to ensure preservation of those resources for future generations
- Enforcement and Compliance with all ordinances and regulations related to fishing, harvesting and hunting activities
Additional divisions include Patrol, Tactical Tracking Team, Dive Team, Major Crimes Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, Reserve Unit and Drug Recognition Expert Program.
